Street Theatre
and
Jitterbug TV
For over thirty years, Hugh W. Brown has been a leading figure in street theatre in Ireland and internationally, known for performances that combine technical circus skill with strong theatrical presence and audience connection.
Over the last fifteen years, much of this work has been led through his charismatic alter ego Jitterbug Jackson, most notably in the acclaimed street show I Used to Dream of Rocket Ships. The production is a joyful and inventive blend of circus, comedy, theatre, music, and song — capturing the full range of Hugh’s imagination and experience as a performer and storyteller.
The show has toured extensively across Ireland and internationally, including representing Ireland at the Street Performance World Championships.
Alongside full street shows, Hugh is also renowned for high-quality walkabout and roaming performances, working on stilts, unicycle, or through character-led interaction. Each performance is carefully pitched to suit the event, space, and audience — delivering charm, energy, and professional street theatre at its best.
I Used To Dream Of Rocket Ships
I Used to Dream of Rocket Ships is Jitterbug Jackson’s signature show: an exhilarating, high-octane collision of circus, music, dance, song, and comedy. This absurd and inventive one-man cabaret bursts into life from the very first moment, with Jitterbug’s irresistible charm, off-kilter humour, and boundless energy carrying audiences on a joyous ride toward a thrilling, celebratory finale.
Expect classic circus skills—juggling, diabolo, and high unicycle—delivered with precision and flair. But what truly sets this show apart is Hugh’s gift as a raconteur. He glides effortlessly from skit to skit, weaving story, movement, and comedy into a seamless whole. Each moment is carefully crafted and choreographed to an extraordinary soundtrack that drives, lifts, and illuminates the action.
This is a show for all ages: playful, poetic, and profoundly human. Always unique and responsive to its surroundings, I Used to Dream of Rocket Ships transforms any space it inhabits, bending time and expectation. It invites audiences to reflect on dreams and ambitions, the infinite possibilities of life—and ultimately, to celebrate the simple magic of being right here, right now.
Walkabout Performance
Walkabout performance is the ideal way to bring attention to any event or to publicise and attract audiences. Hugh draws on many years of experience in this unique artform and this is obvious in his ability to interact with people of all ages and ensure your event receives the attention it deserves.
Hugh’s experience as a street performer, actor, stiltwalker and storyteller means he easily transforms into all manner of character and costume, adding a splash of colour, eccentricity and silliness to any event or occasion.
